With 4K video not being widely available yet, imagine our surprise when we saw the internet light up when this 10K time-lapse of Rio De Janeiro was released earlier this month. Now just to give you some perspective – at its full size the video is 10,328 x 7760 pixels, which I understand for the most of us is still difficult to understand so I’ll break it down for you: this is 10x more than what Vimeo can support, it is big enough to get 8 – 10 quality 1920 x 1080 shots from it and 5 – 6 4K shots from a single shot.
Shot on the PhaseOne IQ180 the photographer zooms in to 100% to show just exactly the depth of what this 80 megapixel camera is able to capture. The PhaseOne IQ180 boasts in being a world leader when it comes to image quality and is one of if not the most powerful medium format camera systems on the market. Starting at a mere $50 000, the IQ180 definitely falls in the Bentley category of Cameras – but unlike most of it’s counterparts, it is made to work hard with an easy to use body and the ability to capture greater depth than you could ever imagine.
But as the saying goes, the proof is in the pudding. And although we don’t have 10K screens to match, this video allow us to get excited about what the future might hold:
